Evrenosbey Middle School presents the Inclusive Schools through Mediation — Online Training Course (OTC)
An introductory session with the teachers of Evrenosbey Middle School was held to present the Inclusive Schools through Mediation — Online Training Course (OTC) and outline its modules. This meeting provided an overview of the course content, highlighting how each module contributes to fostering a peaceful and inclusive school environment.
We began with Module 1: Understanding Conflict in the School Context, introducing teachers to the basic causes of school conflicts and strategies for resolution, emphasizing the importance of creating a positive atmosphere.
Following this, Module 2: Peer Mediation was introduced, showcasing how students can be empowered to act as mediators, resolving conflicts peacefully and contributing to a collaborative school culture.
In Module 3: Emotional Intelligence for Peer Mediation, we emphasized the role of emotional intelligence in conflict resolution, helping teachers understand how this skill can be developed among students to enhance their conflict-handling abilities.
Module 4: Good Practices of Peer Mediation presented real-life scenarios from school settings, focusing on best practices and successful examples of peer mediation that teachers can consider implementing.
Last, Module 5: Implementing a Peer Mediation Programme provided a framework for teachers on how to establish a peer mediation program, including practical steps to create a sustainable model for peaceful conflict resolution in schools.
Through this introductory meeting, Evrenosbey teachers gained valuable insights into each module and are now well-prepared to explore the tools and techniques offered by the OTC, contributing to a more inclusive and harmonious school environment.
